OBESITY

There are number of factors that cause obesity.

Cause       Description
Illness Thyroid is known to increase obesity. Similarly PCOD is also known to contribute to obesity in 5-10% of women of child bearing age. Type 2 diabetes also causes visceral fat accumulation leading to obesity.
Use of drugs like steroids, oral contraceptives, anti-depressant medicines, anti-hypertensive medicines and insulin are known to cause weight gain and consequent obesity.
Lack of Sleep This causes increased appetite leading to consumption of high calorie food, which in turn, leads to weight gain and consequent obesity.
Lack of activity If the burning of calories in the body is not taking place, excess calorie build up leads to weight gain and consequent obesity.
Hereditary The offsprings of obese parents (both parents) are generally found to be obese.

Is obesity reversible?

Yes with proper diet control, exercises and stress management. The resultant weight loss makes the body get into shape and also brings the BMI and cholesterol under control.

How to prevent obesity?

2 Balance your calorie intake
3 Choose healthy foods
4 Control cravings
5 Limit intake of sodium i.e., salt
6 Check your BMI
7 Stay physically active.

How to lose weight?

Sr.No. Action
1 Quit sugar and milk and table salt.
2 Use fat cutters like Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon Tea, Cinnamon Tea, Honey and lemon juice to lose weight.
3 Avoid eating left over food in order to save it from being wasted or avoid excess fillings.
4 Eat less outside food. Home food is always the best option.
5 Chew your food well. Do not use mobile phones while eating. Concentrate on the food that you eat.
6 Always plan your meal in advance.
7 Remain physically active.
8 Do your exercises daily.
9 Do intermittent fasting. This is a completely free option to reduce weight.

Reducing weight by itself is not the greatest challenge. It is to maintain it in the long run that is more challenging. We generally see people going for fast track weight reduction programmes. While this may be effective in the short run, in the long run, weight will slowly creep up by relaxing the protocol and once it catches on, there is no stopping it. It has to be a conscious decision and planned one under supervision of an expert so that the weight loss and body metabolism can be balanced and maintained.
