WHY NON-VEGETARIAN FOOD IS NOT PERMISSIBLE DURING DIABETES REVERSAL PROCESS?

Non-vegetarian food provides a lot of nutrition for the body as under:

Non-veg food item Nutrition content
Meat Folic Acid, Fat and proteins, Vitamin B12
Poultry (chicken) Proteins and Vitamin B12 and fat
Fish Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B12 & Fat
Eggs Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin D, Fat and Proteins

Despite this high nutrition content, for achieving diabetes reversal, the participants are asked to refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food at least for the first six months of the reversal protocol.

The diabetes reversal protocols follow Ayurveda. Eating non-vegetarian, spicy or oily foods can impact the immunity as well as the digestive system as they are heavy to digest. It is for this reason, that Ayurveda says one should indulge in light foods that can be easily digested. It goes on to say each food has karmic qualities. So, though they have a place in Ayurveda, consuming non-veg food is a personal ethical choice.

Why during the first six months of the detox process the participants are asked to refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food?

During the first 3 months, the body undergoes complete detox. All the accumulated toxins and fat is thrown out by consuming ayurvedic medicine and drink. When the accumulated toxins are thrown out of the body, the digestive system is at its lowest. Hence, it is prescribed to consume fruits and vegetables which have more water content and fibre instead of food items which have fat content, which takes considerably more time to digest. In fact it takes about 72 hours for non-vegetarian food to get digested in the body. In order to streamline the digestive system on the one hand and to rid of body of accumulated toxins, it is advisable to refrain from consuming any non-vegetarian food items. The next three months the body undergoes changes and it needs time to stabilise.

I am a non-vegetarian from childhood and I was very apprehensive of giving up on non-vegetarian food when I started the diabetes reversal protocol with Diabetes Free Forever. But when the reasons and rationale behind the advice to refrain from consuming non-vegetarian food were explained, I switched over to consuming fruits and vegetables. This proved to be of considerable value to regaining my health by not only reversing diabetes but in improving my overall health. Even though now I am diabetes free, I am very selective in consuming non-vegetarian food. I am permitted to consume eggs (egg white as it contains proteins and not the yellow which contains fat), gavran chicken, particularly chicken soup and fish curry.

I am completely diabetes free and I enjoy eating non-vegetarian permitted food once a while as an exception rather than the rule.

If your digestive system is adaptive to consuming non- vegetarian food and that your blood sugar is under control, there should not be any problem in consuming it in moderation. It all depends upon the level of control of blood sugar and your doctor's advice.

Don’t be taken aback by the thought that you have to give up non-veg food for life. It is not. But at the same time, ensure that you do not over eat and land up with digestive disorders and where you started by bringing back the blood sugar.

All the best!
