Exciting period is ahead. Dr. Bhagyesh Kulkarni has come out with a unique experiment of 14 days Super Fast Challenge which involves alternate day 24 hours fast till the 7th day and a water fast on the 8th day and thereafter continuing the fast till the 14th day.
During the fast, he said the following items should be avoided :
- 1. Intake of alcohol, sugar, tea, coffee, soda and aerated drinks. In short giving up MRPS items.
- 2. Eliminate all animal products like milk, cheese, eggs, butter, yogurt, fish and meat.
What to include in the eating window :
- 1. Fruits
- 2. Salad
- 3. Juices
DAY 1 - 9.11.2024
On the first day it would be a 16 hours fasting window wherein we are permitted a meal consisting of salad, cooked items and grains in the ratio of 60:20:10. On the first day dinner, roti, dal, rice or any grain should be avoided. It will only be soup or salad or fruits for dinner. This can be further refined to 60:15:10 making grains the least consumed during lunch, if so desired.
During the 24 hours fasting next day, it will be Juice Fasting. On juice fasting day only juices are allowed. It is a liquid form of fast. On the 1st day while lunch is 60:20:10, dinner has to be kept light like soup,salad or fruits. On the 2nd day, it will be only juices and third day, it will be light meal with extended window. On the 4th day it will be juice fasting and so on.

Other Instructions:
- 1. On the previous day of commencing the fast, have a light meal in the evening with simple soup or fruit. Avoid roti, dal, rice, and grains. This helps your body to prepare for the fast.
- 2. Basic aim of this chart is to reduce the calories intake.
- 3.On the 1st fasting day Enema has to be done in the morning. It is advisable to sleep early say before 10.30pm to get at least 6 hours of sleep.
- 4. Water can be consumed intermittently.
- 5. A shopping list of fruits, vegetables required for initial one week of super fast has been provided.
- 6. Hunza tea can be consumed twice a day.
- 7. If there are any problems of digestion or constipation, ayurvedic tablet of Gandharv Vati tablet can be consumed on alternate days depending upon need.
- 8. Regarding medicines, the opinion of panel doctor may be obtained particularly by Type 1 patients and underweights.
- 9. Stay away from sweet items.
- 10. This super fast is not recommended for people above 75 years, pregnant and lactating ladies, people with heavy medication.
- 11. Regarding exercises, no heavy exercise between the 8th day and 14th day. Normal exercises, however,can be carried out.
Two tasks were allotted by Dr. Bhagyesh Kulkarni to the participants to gauge their preparation and readiness for this superfast:
- 1. Place a photo of the shopping items in the group
- 2. Write an pledge that you will complete the 14 days super fast and preserve it. Also place it in the group.
DAY 2 : 10.11.2024
Today is the day of 24 hour fasting. No solid food during the day. Only liquid items to be consumed like Smoothie/Ash Gourd Juice/ABC Juice/V6 Juice/Coconut water and Water. The 24 hour period is counted from lunch to lunch i.e., from 12.00noon today to 12.00noon tomorrow.
The day begins with 500ml water and 1/2 cup hunza tea on wake up, followed by Juice (Ash Gourd/Coconut water/Cucumber) at 9.00am (1 or 2 glasses), thereafter Juice (ABC Juice/V6 Juice) at 11.30am, next Green Juice Smoothie with Apple at 1.30pm (2 glasses), thereafter Juice (Ash Gourd/Coconut water/Plain water) at 5.30pm. Next Green Juice Smoothie with Banana at 7.30pm (2 glasses) and to end the day 200ml luke warm water with turmeric powder at 9.00pm.
The following activities are suggested:
- 1. Detox Enema
- 2. Oil pulling and mouth cleansing
- 3. 15 to 20 minutes of sun bathing/sun gazing
- 4. Basic Pranayama and Anulom/Vilom
- 5. Salt water bath at evening
- 6. Basic stretching exercises and 20 minutes’ walk.
- 7. Meditation
The following items are not permitted during juice fast:
- 1. Fruits
- 2. Tea
- 3. Coffee
- 4. Aerated drinks
Among condiments the following are allowed :
- 1. Lemon Juice
- 2. Fresh Ginger
- 3. Mint leaves
- 4. Coriander leaves
The following condiments are not allowed :

DAY 3 : 11.11.2024
Today is 18 hour fasting with a reduced eating window to 6 hours i.e., between 12.00noon to 6.00pm. The one meal included 60:20:10 i.e., Salad, vegetable and grain within these 6 hours. Rest of the day is only on juices like Ash Gourd Juice/ABC Juice/Orange Juice/Mosambi Juice and Coconut water. Salad and soup at 6.00pm. No food after sunset. Drink lots of water to remain hydrated.
The planned reduction in the eating window is to prepare the body for extended fasting period coupled with alternate day 24 hour juice fasting. This method helps to carry out prolonged fasting.
DAY 4: 12.11.2024
Today is again 24 hour juice fasting. The day got commenced by consuming Ash Gourd Juice in the morning, coconut water at mid noon, Green Smoothie with banana at 1.30pm, hunza tea at 3.30pm, coconut water/Ash Gourd Juice or plain water at 5.30pm and completed the day with a green smoothie at 7.30pm followed by warm water with turmeric poweder at 9.00pm.
The experience is mind blowing for the following reasons:
- 1. Never thought that I could do such prolonged fasting
- 2. I am addicted to cravings, particularly in the afternoons. But during this fast I forgot all about cravings, which I am myself surprised.
- 3. That a man can survive with fresh fruit juices for prolonged period without having to eat anything solid.
- 4. Doing it with a group is much easier than doing it alone.
DAY 5: 13.11.2024
Today is 20 hour fasting with an eating window a smaller one i.e., only 4 hours between 12.00noon to 4.00pm. One meal consisting of 60:20:10 is allowed. As we know that Sadguru follows the regimen of eating only one meal a day at 4.00pm. In keeping with that and to get the experience, this schedule is devised to acclimatise the body to one meal so that prolonged fasting becomes easier. Evening will be juice at 5.30pm and warm water with turmeric at 9.00pm.
DAY 6: 14.11.2024
Today it is World Diabetes Day. Dr. Bhagyesh has titled today day as BOXING DAY JUICE FASTING. Today will be 24 hour juice fasting only on juices – no solid food, no salads, no soups. In the evening Gazpacho Juice at 7.30pm.
This is the day, Dr. Bhagyesh said, when you sip the juices, remember the contribution of the farmer who cultivated the vegetables and fruits, the dealers, wholesalers and retailers, followed by shop keeper and his staff who made efforts to reach these items to the market from where you could pick them up and put it on your table to extract juice and drink it, which enriches your body. Express gratitude to all of them. A great thought indeed and when you practice, you appreciate the importance of food which you are consuming!
With this fast your body and soul both get purified and ketones get generated through ketosis which provide sustained energy reducing fatigue and reduce body fat.
DAY 7 : 15.11.2024
Today is juice fasting day with 20 hours fasting and one window of 4 hours for one meal 60:20:10 between 12.00noon to 4.00pm. At 7.30pm only soup. No food after 7.30pm except warm water with turmeric at 9.00pm.
DAY 8: 16.11.2024
Today again it is 24 hour juice fasting with no solid food. Only juices and to be consumed and a soup in the evening at 7.30pm.
DAY 9: 17.11.2024
Today is WATER FASTING DAY. From the last meal the fast will continue totally for 48 hours including 24 hours water fasting today. The next meal will be on 18.11.2024 at around 12.00 noon or thereafter depending upon the timing of the last meal.
Although prima facie this fast looks daunting, it is not so provided your train you body and mind during the previous scheduled period and do the water fast on the specified day.
Benefits of Water Fast :
1. It extends longevity, reduces cancer cell growth and boosts immunity.
2. Once in a month your can do water fast to detox the body. Avoid dehydration.
3. During the day use warm or normal water with Basil (Tulsi) or Mint (Pudina) or Kesar water. In the morning take ½ liter of water with turmeric powder. You can also consume coconut water in the morning 1 or 2 glasses.
Type 1 diabetics are advised not to do water fast.
DAY 10 : 18.11.2024
Continuing the Super Fast, from today the fasting period will gradually be reduced from 20 hours today to normal on 22nd November 2024. Today the fast is broken by consuming a juice or a smoothie followed by light Lunch (60:20:10) between 12.00 noon to 4.00pm and a soup and salad at 7.30pm. Only one meal is allowed during the day. Rest of the day is only liquids.
DAY 11 : 19.11.2024
Today also it will be 20 hours fasting with 4 hours window for meal including lunch (60:20:10). The emphasis is on consuming raw food in preparation for slowly acclimatising the digestive system to grains.
DAY 12 : 20.11.2024
Today the fasting period will be reduced to 16 hours with 8 hours window for eating. Lunch consisting of 40:30:20 i.e., 40% salad, 30% cooked food and 20% grains. and dinner will be more of raw food like 60:20:10 i.e., 60% salad, 20% cooked food and 10% grains. Those who want to lose further weight can continue with a single meal.
Super fast can be done twice a year. Monthly it can be done for 3 days.
The task for today is to write a letter to self explaining the benefit and experience of the Super Fast so far, which is done.
DAY 13: 21.11.2024
Today also the fasting pattern will be 16 hours like yesterday. Both times grains and regular meals will be restored from tomorrow.
DAY 14 : 22.11.2024
Today is the last day of the super fast. Morning celebration smoothie can be consumed by adding a sweet fruit like papaya or chickoo at 9.00am. Thereafter lunch at 12.00noon in the ratio of 40:30:20 and the night meal could be 60:20:10 to keep the grains on the lower side atleast for one or two days.
Dr. Bhagyesh Kulkarni said those who wish to continue the fast may do so by following the 40:30:20 ratio for lunch and 60:20:10 for dinner for the next 90 days particularly those who are overweight. The night meal need to be taken early before 8.00pm.
With this the Super Fast of 14 days comes to an end. A great experience indeed!
